Relight is a feature in Microsoft Photos that’s exclusive to Copilot+ PCs. Relight uses AI technology to introduce artificial light sources into your photograph, allowing you to simulate different lighting conditions. Relight lets you adjust how lighting appears in your photo by changing its direction, color, position, and intensity to explore different moods and styles.
Requirements
Relight in Photos is exclusive to Copilot+ PCs and currently supports only images.
Getting started
To use Relight in Photos:

Open the Photos app and select the image you want to relight.

Select Edit then select Relight from the available options.

Choose one of the lighting presets, and optionally customize each light's location, brightness, softness or color, and the overall intensity of the effect.
How the AI model works
The Relight feature uses AI technology to relight images. Here are some key points about how the AI model works and our commitment to responsible AI:

Local Processing: The AI model runs locally on your device, ensuring that your data is not sent to any external services or servers. This helps protect your privacy and keeps your data secure.

No biometric data is collected, processed, or stored for use in Relight even if you're using Relight on photos including humans or faces.

Non-generative AI: The AI model used for Relight is not generative. It does not create new content but modifies existing images by adding artificial light sources.

Transparency and control: You have full control over the relighting process and can choose the lighting conditions that best suits your needs. You can always discard the relighting process or simply undo the enhancement with the editor's Undo or Reset options.

Feedback and improvement: We encourage users to provide feedback on the Relight feature. Your feedback helps us improve the AI model and ensure it meets your needs and expectations.
